BODEGA Share Music Video for ‘Charlie’

New Yorkers BODEGA have unveiled a new video for their latest track Charlie, coming from their debut album Endless Scroll, out this Friday.

By train and by ferry we travel around New York in BODEGA’s new video for Charlie.

Directed by two of the band members themselves, Ben Hozie and Nikki Belfiglio, the clip depicts the duo in the gorgeous sunshine with the iconic New York skyline in the distance. The warmer aesthetic of the visuals contrasts the lyrical content of the track, where it is touching in a saddening yet reflective way.

Charlie is Endless Scroll’s most personal song and a change of pace from some of their more politically-charged material. Ben explains:

On New Year’s Eve in 2007 my best friend Charlie drowned in the Charleston River. We had spent every day of that fall semester together; playing records and scheming plans for our great unformed rock and roll band at the University of South Carolina. I’ve been trying to write him a worthy song since then and only recently found the melody that felt like him. For the video, me and Nikki [Belfiglio] took a day-trip to Staten Island and took turns photographing each other.

Endless Scroll is due out on July 6th via What’s Your Rupture?.

The band set their sights on the UK this July with dates all over the country including a show at The Dome in London and some European festival dates.
