Live: INDOOR PETS // Scala, London
Indoor Pets played their largest headline show yet last week, bringing dirty pop to London’s Scala.
The four-piece from Kent released their debut album Be Content last month, much to the delight of long-time devotees, while amassing new fans. With the name-change saga long behind them, Indoor Pets packed fourteen songs, some old and many new, into one big banger of an album.
Without a moment to waste, opener Cutie Pie, I’m Bloated set the scene for the night with its high-paced tempo, followed by the even zippier Hi. Old favourite Teriyaki saw frontman Jamie Glass ditch his guitar to fully immerse himself, followed later by Being Strange carrying us through to the perfectly paired Barbiturates and Pro Procrastinator.
Infectious, unfaltering, and masterfully unhinged, Indoor Pets showed us exactly what they’re made of, no spilling of guts necessary. And if we can’t remember who they were before, it’ll be because they’ve undoubtedly made their mark.
