THE KOOKS Release Animated Video for ‘Got Your Number’
If you have a soft spot for animations or animals, then the newest video from The Kooks is sure to fill your heart with content.
The Kooks have given their latest single Got Your Number an animated makeover. The track is filled with swathes of tropical rhythms and heart-on-sleeve lyricism that has made much of the world fall at the band’s feet, and Got Your Number sees The Kooks doing what they do best whilst constantly bringing in new ideas that keeps listeners hooked in.
The animated video for the track will send waves of nostalgia coursing through you, as grainy pictures and retro animation throw us back to the cartoons that accompanied our childhood. The animation is a take on the classic ‘70s cartoon Hong Kong Phooey, and is directed by Peter Wang and animated by James Wragg. The video sees the Brighton trio transformed into cartoon dogs, who undertake a daring rescue mission to save their pet cat after it gets abducted by a crooked villain. From flying cars to comic scenes of the villains being crushed, it’s all a wild goose chase but as with all cartoons, the good guys triumph and the final scenes of the band (as dogs) performing to the pets they rescued will leave your heart warm.
