Live: WHITE LIES // O2 Academy Brixton, London
Celebrating the ten-year anniversary of their debut album, To Lose My Life…, White Lies stopped in to serenade a sold-out audience at the O2 Academy Brixton.
With Canadian local Boniface in tow as the supporting act, the colossal set was a pure celebration of everything White Lies have built over the decade, and everything they still have to offer.
In the theme of celebration, White Lies gave the fans exactly what they wanted. To Lose My Life… was performed in full with confetti canons staring the show, and stirring up perhaps long-lost feelings and nostalgia amongst those in attendance. Hitting all the big names such as Death, Unfinished Business and From The Stars, the step back in time felt no less relatable, with the lyrics being as on point as ever. Backed by white strip lights with contrasted all black outfits, White Lies are all class.
Following on from the time warp to 2009, the band brought in their newer, and no less hard-hitting and timeless material. Despite the revel brought on by the performance of their debut album in full, White Lies stepping into their newer material did the opposite of slow down the fans. The second act brought the likes of Time To Give and Tokyo from fifth album Five. The band also stepped directly into 2013 with huge tracks There Goes Our Love Again and the mammoth Big TV.
Closing out the set with an encore of Taxidermy and Bigger Than Us, it was the cherry on top of a perfect set. Like a fine wine, White Lies get better with age. It was easy to see they have not lost any of their passion or their continued desire to share their music with their fans and followers.
