UNDEROATH Announce New Album ‘Voyeurist’
The band has shared a first taste of the forthcoming work in the form of ripping new single Hallelujah.

Underoath have announced their forthcoming seventh studio album, Voyeurist, with a release date set for January 14th 2022. As with any band that’s been around for a notable length of time and has gone through huge successes, there’s always a pressure to maintain or outperform your past records but Underoath show that they have taken it into their stride as they deliver an expectation-defying new single, Hallelujah.
Opening with a haunting chorus of voices and an anxious beat ticking away alongside, barely any time has passed before you’re swept off your feet by a full texture of unnerved percussion and forceful guitars. The track carries a raw emotional pain, both through the intensely honest and dark songwriting and the increasingly agitated vocal performance that will simultaneously raise your heartbeat.
Guitarist Tim McTague summarises:
I think the song is one of the more powerful songs on the album for a myriad of reasons, but sharing a night of beers and stories with a handful of the people you love, unpacking a ton of heady concepts and recording a choir really put an exclamation point on the song for me. It’s dark, beautiful, haunting and heavy all at the same time. That’s what Underoath does best in my opinion.
The single comes with a refreshed sonic direction, that maintains the core Underoath emotional intensity but blends a new combination of textures and instrumentals together to deliver a shattering and propulsive sound. The deviation comes alongside a change in the band’s musical story as well, as they take complete control over the recording process for the first time. Tim explains:
I’ve always wanted to record our own album. I think we just needed to get into a headspace personally that would allow criticism and critique to land in a productive and constructive way.
We grew so much in real time and I think the record speaks to that growth and collaboration. I haven’t ever felt this attached to a project in my life.
