Pop-rock musician Loviet has been in the same rocky boat as all of us for the past year, and so it comes as no surprise that she’s got a lot of experiences and feelings built up, waiting to be spilled by pen onto paper. Any pre-existing thoughts will likely have been exacerbated, and budding problems amplified; that formed part of the inspiration for her upcoming album, due for release later this year. It also anchors the theme of the first single to be lifted from it, Chemical, a shimmering and breezy single that pulls at your heartstrings with its relatable lyrics and unforgettable melodies.

Weaving together sun-drenched electronics and glittering guitars, it’s the pool-side song you need for summer but with a nostalgic kick to give it more of an emotional tug. Loviet’s supple vocals will mesmerise you as she shares her story and allow you into her inner contemplations. Flecked with a rejuvenating youthfulness, Chemical dances between carefreeness and a knowing maturity to conjure a track that will resonate with a wide audience.

Explaining more of the single, she shares:

This song was written with Nathan Ferraro in late spring 2019. I kinda came to Nathan without anything. No released music, no explanation for why I was even working with him (a dude that’s written with some pretty amazing heavyweights on the scene). I just told him a bit about myself and my roots and we wrote a song. All about our mutually cool small town, summer crazed teenage pasts. It was such a meaningful moment for me. I definitely experienced things in such high fidelity at a really young age, too young. And far before mental health was taken seriously or people being educated on it. I love this song and now when I listen to it I feel as if I just popped a pill that takes me right back to the summer of ‘09 and I’m cruising with my friends to the beach high on life. Which is all I can really hope people feel when they hear this track. The heaviness and lightness of partying and growing up.
