THE AMAZONS Announce Debut Album
The Reading quartet finally unveils the details on their anticipated debut alongside a video for newest single, Black Magic.

Having smashed up venues all over the UK with their trail blazing, bombastic rock anthems, The Amazons have already won over a decent following and the recognition of the music press. Discussing their debut with us last December, the boys were clearly uncertain on more than one aspect of the record.
“We don’t have a name. We were supposed to have one by this week but we haven’t done that,” Joe Emmett told us. Seems they took the easy way out, and the self-titled album is set to be released June 2nd.
“I wrote all the songs between the ages of 18 and 22 years old… It’s all quite direct, but it’s emotive too”, Matt Thomson states, and we’re looking forward to hear The Amazons‘ own take on the prime of adolescence’s transformational time.
The guys also released a video for their most recent track, the intoxicatingly catchy Black Magic, and it’s just as mad as the tune itself. Delving into surrealism, the turning nature of the angles gives a penrose stairs allusion. The illusion continues with double exposures twisted perspectives, giving into time parallels, illustrated by ticking clocks and over-layered story lines. The duality of the story is also highlighted by colour contrasts, the most vibrant being the contrast between passionate red and cold blue.
The Amazons‘ self-titled debut album will be released on June 2nd via Fiction Records.
