The 1975 have unveiled the new track “Love Me”
Do you know why the world is freaking out today? Yep, The 1975 have released the new track.
After spending the last four months in LA working on the new record the band was finally ready to share new music with hungry and impatient fans. And of course, I was one of them.
The band’s fascination about musical experiments spreads on the new sound. The song Love Me, vastly influenced by the 80s vibes, is kind of like David Bowie meets the glorious guitar riffs. In the result, it’s exactly what pop music should be all about, and was back in the day, which is fun. And yes, I suppose we can say and accept the fact that The 1975 are a pop band. Which surprisingly, feels great.
Love Me premiered as the Hottest Record In The World on Annie Mac’s show last night and was commented by the man himself Matt Healy, the frontman of the group, as the song about narcissism. Well, with lyrics like I’m just with my friends online and there’s things we’d like to change makes very interesting statement.
The highly anticipated sophomore album from The 1975 definitely will bring some change and that’s what Healy had to say about it.
We wanted to reinvent ourselves but make it feel like the natural evolution. We didn’t necessarily get in a room and start putting on leather trousers and make-up particularly [well, the picture above suggests differently but I don’t mind]. We wanted to evolve with our fans. They have given us the opportunity to be truthful cause it’s all about the truth and everything now is in pursuit of the truth. So that’s what “Love Me” is about. It’s all about the change and it’s all about us.

We want to be like ambassadors for this generation in creating the way we consume music. We are part of that and we consume it from many different places. We wanted to make a record that was truly a representation of that idea.
The new record consisting of 17 tracks and named I Like It When You Sleep For You Are So Beautiful Yet So Unaware Of It shall be out in February next year. Yes, I know… I can’t wait to see the album cover with that title!
