Nashville-via-LA-via-NY trio dropped a surprise release last Friday, new single yea, babe, no way, which perfectly serves the upbeat and catchy rhythms of their dreamy alt-pop. If you’re in a need of a tune which would define your summer, then seek no more. This might be the one.
Paul Klein, the lead singer of the band, yet again reveals his constant internal conflict through the lyrical clash of his opposed feelings when he sings Everything was better when / you would call and I’d be like “yea, babe”, / Every night I’m wide awake / I almost call you, then I’m like “no way”. More in the commentary from the man himself:
It’s about that exact back and forth emotion. Like, ‘Wow, I miss you and what we had was pretty amazing and actually how did this not work out and yeah this hurts a ton and sometimes kinda a lot of times I wanna call you and try again, but then I’m like no I can’t, I just can’t’… ya know? It’s that kind of feeling.
The band is about to wrap up their first headline tour and then appear at a few festivals over the summer. After that? Let’s hope there will be more surprises such as this one.
As for now, stream the song below.
