CROWN THE EMPIRE New Song Review // “Weight of the World”

CROWN THE EMPIRE release new track Weight of the World.

CA – Dallas rock quintet have unveiled new song Weight of the World taken from their highly-anticipated, third studio album, Retrograde.

Having been dropped after the band’s recent music video for the track Zero, the new single is a solid example of their heavily echoing rock sound but with that typical accessible tone. It’s heavy but it’s good-heavy and there’s much more to come.

Everyone has something to say and an opinion to give (thanks internet!) “Weight of the World” is about living under the unblinking eyes and scrutiny of social media, whether you are in a band, a public figure or just a kid trying to belong. It’s about feeling the pressure of trying to please EVERYONE all the time, but only to not please anyone at all – says Andy Leo (vocals).

The excitement and anticipation for Crown The Empire‘s forthcoming album have been intensifying with every release. Retrograde follows their breakout album The Resistance: Rise of The Runaways, which was released in 2014 and debuted at #7 on the Billboard Top 200 chart.

This album has been an accumulation of ideas, lessons and observations about who we are as a band and how we see the world – the singer adds. It’s taken 5 years for us to grow and really nail down a sound that doesn’t fit the status quo of what people are expecting from us. We’ve reinvented ourselves and we hope you enjoy the ride.

You can currently catch the band playing on the Vans Warped Tour.

Retrograde is due for release on July 22nd via Rise Records.
