TEMPESST New Song Review // “Broke Down Blues”
TEMPESST share new single Broke Down Blues.
East London’s Aussie twins Toma and Andy Banjanin return bringing you new track Broke Down Blues.
Following previous releases Tidal Wave and Too Slow, the latest offering from the duo floats on woozy guitars and synchronised vocals whilst steady drums help swell rhythms to leave that trace of broken blues behind. Psych-pop vibes in contrast with a sense of triumph through misery, will unusually make you feel blissfully calm with a desire to dance around the room at the same time. It is a huge, catchy tune after all.
It’s an ode of sorts – explains vocalist Toma Banjanin. It’s meant to feel more liberated and triumphant than a whining, entitled artist crying about not having any money. It doesn’t represent breaking point, it’s celebrating what’s already broken.
Despite being busy this festival season (The Great Escape, Live At Leeds, Liverpool Sound City, Bushstock Festival) Tempesst have no intention of slowing down while the autumn is fast approaching. The band have announced a new headline gig at London’s Moth Club on September 29. Having considered that they have played two sold out shows in their lovely hometown already, it is fair to say that this one will be no exception.
Broke Down Blues is out now via 0E0E.
