WATERPARKS to Release Debut Album “Double Dare”
WATERPARKS have announced the release of their debut album Double Dare on Nov 4th with the lead track Stupid For You out now.
Houston-based trio not only has just got back home from a busy summer, including the amazing Reading and Leeds Festival, but also has just dropped the news that their album Double Dare will be out later this year.
There are many reasons to get excited about. 13 to be precise. Obviously, any new Waterparks song is an enough reason to make your day better but the band decided to put out a completely new and entirely unheard material on their highly anticipated record. A bold and brave move indeed, but judging by the lead track, Stupid For You, which is available now, this was undoubtedly a right move.
The full-length, a follow-up to their most recent Cluster EP (Jan 2016), was recorded in Los Angeles with Benji Madden (Good Charlotte) and Courtney Ballard (5 Seconds of Summer, All Time Low) on production duties.
The frontman of the band Awsten Knight had to say on the album:
It’s just more. Everything about it is expanded and bigger. We wanted to push the boundaries to show people that you can be more than one thing. This isn’t just a “pop-punk” band and I think when people hear the rest of the album, it’ll be pretty apparent. There are songs that have elements of jazz, hip-hip, pop, indie, electronic, punk, etc. As far as the lyrics go, they’re more personal than they’ve been on any other Waterparks release. This album has been in the works since last August or September, and in that time I’ve felt and dealt with a lot of different things. I was probably more open than I should be with some stuff but it’s fine. Honest songs are always best. It’s also got me at my happiest, so that’s a thing too.
Double Dare is due for release on November 4th via Equal Vision Records with a tracklist as follows:
1. Hawaii (Stay Awake)
2. Gloom Boys
3. Stupid For You
4. Royal
5. Take Her to the Moon

7. Dizzy
8. Powerless
