DIET CIG Unveil New Track ‘Tummy Ache’
DIET CIG release fresh new tease from their forthcoming debut.
The New York duo finally gives us some details on their awaited debut full-length alongside infectious new single Tummy Ache.
The tune gives a lot in its two minutes and forty seconds. Their grungy guitar and drum effort contrast well to Alex Luciano’s vocals. The band’s bombastic, yet edgy style and complex song structure is intriguing. Noah Bowman’s precise and flourishing drumming lays the grounding for Diet Cig’s domineering sound. It is impressive how much noise two people can make whilst keeping it coherent.
“It’s hard to be a punk girl wearing a skirt”, Alex sings, proving relatable in all her modesty.
Of the single Diet Cig note:
‘Tummy Ache’ is all about unpacking the feeling of approaching punk with radical softness, and the struggle when it’s not always read as powerful or cool or whatever enough. Its the shout into my pillow when what I’m saying isn’t being heard, and a big old I FEEL YA to all the femme folks creating space for themselves in a world that wants to keep us quiet.

Following up their 2015 Over Easy EP, Diet Cig are now finally set to release their anticipated debut album. With their consistent lyrical quality and melodic vocals, accompanied by trashing drums and rough edges, Diet Cig have already set their mark on new music.
The record was produced, engineered and mixed by Christopher Daly at Salvation Recording Co. in New Paltz, NY with additional recording at Atomic Sound in New York City.
Entitled Swear I’m Good At This, the album is set to be released on April 7th via Frenchkiss Records.
