HIPPO CAMPUS Reveal ‘way it goes’ Video

The band escapes from the social media world, chooses the picturesque snowy scenery instead.

The Minnesota four-piece delivers new clip, perfect for those cold and short winter days juxtaposed with the track’s sun-drenched melodies.

The new cut way it goes follows Hippo Campus‘ previous releases the energetic boyish and evocative monsoon, taken from their forthcoming debut album, landmark, out in February this year. As you may well notice, all underline the band’s attraction to the lack of capitalisation.

Shot in early spring on a frozen lake in Cumberland, Wisconsin, the visuals for the new single suggest a getaway from the social media hype. Idyllic winter scenes full of mates just hanging together make you even forget the winter cold outside.

Of course, the upbeat essence of the song has a lot to be blamed here for. Infused with sunny vibes the sheer guitars and resilient drums form a vigourous spirit, the one that will (should) live forever on your on-the-road playlist. Faultless in any weather during any season of the year.

Vocalist Jake Luppen explains:

‘way it goes’ was a moment of clarity; a realization that we are comedy. We exist in a world where our main news source is a social media website. Materialism is our dogma. We seek to control the way our peers perceive us. We engage social issues as a backdrop for our personal drama. It’s the rare moments when we can escape from this artificial reality, that really matter.

Hippo Campus‘ debut album, landmark, is set to be released on February 24th via Transgressive Records.

The band is about to hit the road and visit the UK later this month so make sure you catch them at the following dates!
