‘Strange or Be Forgotten’ We Hear from TEMPLES in New Track
TEMPLES unveil the second track from their forthcoming LP, and we’re beyond excited.
The Kettering outfit made a name of themselves with their critically acclaimed debut Sun Structures and now they are finally set to release their anticipated sophomore record, Volcano.
Following up their first single, Certainty, Temples now share new cut Strange Or Be Forgotten.
Though Certainty showed a darker twist in their new material, Strange Or Be Forgotten is lighter and more fluid than the first single. Still heavier on the synth than a lot of their previous work, the drumwork of Samuel Toms aligned with Thomas Walmsley’s evolving bassline come together as a relentless foundation for the dreamy track.
The single is set to close the record and, though we are yet to hear the whole thing, it sounds undoubtedly suited for the task. The descending synth-lines colour the terrain of the tune whilst still leaving space for James Bagshaw’s idiosyncratic vocals.
The subtle preciseness in Temples‘ transitions is one of the things that make them stand out against the wall of noise and it surfaces on Strange Or Be Forgotten. They create these psychedelic delicate dreams within their tunes, yet there is a sense of particular precision that makes the melodies so captivating.
Bassist, Tom Walmsley opened up about the inspirations of the tune.
We’re continually inundated with pressure in modern life to have to make something of ourselves and leave behind a legacy in this world. ‘Strange Or Be Forgotten’ is our way of questioning the necessity of having to be all so individual and unique—when really it’s our true selves that should be celebrated.
