THE SHERLOCKS Ask ‘Was It Really Worth It?’ in New Tune
The Sheffield outfit unveils new single Was It Really Worth It? alongside a set of new live dates.
The Sherlocks consist of two sets of brothers, quite a family affair, and have built up a following through their solid live shows. They also had the honour of opening for The Libertines at their Arena Tour last year.
The recent adding to their (so far) slim catalogue is an encouraging tune, triumphed by shooting guitars and frontman Kiaran Crook’s sincere vocals. Was It Really Worth It? might feel like just another guitar-laid indie tune about some unsuccessful love affair, but nothing wrong with that, whatever works, right? Taking half a risk in transition between chorus and verse pays off, giving a slight momentum in an otherwise rather safe tune with a decent sing-along potential.
Frontman Crook explains:
’Was it really worth it?’ is a high energy tune but maintains a very positive message underneath all the chaos. The chorus is huge and I believe it will be a fan favourite that sticks with us forever. It’s basically about the battle of pleasing someone who can’t be pleased or in other words it’s summed up in the last verse ‘fighting a battle that can’t be won’. It is definitely an anthem of ours and it’s pretty much been a favourite of mine since I wrote it years ago.
