CABBAGE Demand Freedom on New Single ‘Gibraltar Ape’
The band has announced new headline dates.

Not resting on their laurels, the Manchester outfit are already out with new single, Gibraltar Ape, just weeks after their debut, Young, Dumb, And Full Of…., hit the shelves.
Cabbage‘s punk attitude transcends in their music, released at a speed almost as high as their steady energetic beat. Not shying away from commenting on the current, they emphasise the long lost Manchester punk with their politically loaded lyrics. The bluntness of the lyric itself might feel corner-cutting at times, but what’s punk about sticking to the road?
Gibraltar Ape exudes a longing for freedom in every aspect of the tune, so it can feel overly self-explanatory when Lee Broadbent moans “I wanna be free” for the tenth time. The most outstanding feature this tune has to offer is an intellectual and teasing bass line, demeaned in the melody, however, by too much general noise.
Vocalist says of the track:
‘Gibraltar Ape’ is conversational pub paradox. A tireless crusade to be freed of inner constraints. Starring John Hall and the town of Huddersfield.
Gibraltar Ape was recorded at Parr Street Studios in Liverpool and produced by James Skelly (of The Coral) and Richard Turvey.
