BEARCUBS Takes Us ‘Underwaterfall’ with His New EP
London based artist/producer returns with sophomore EP, Underwaterfall.

If your ears aren’t familiar with the sounds of Bearcubs, a London producer aka Jack Ritchie, I think you are doing yourself a disservice. I remember when the track and the title of his new EP Underwaterfall, was on my radar playlist. It was then transferred onto my 2017 playlist and has been on repeat ever since.
Burning Up is the first cab of ranks and the artist doesn’t waste any time, making sure that his talents in creating a hybrid of ambient, electronic, dubstep just to name a few, are apparent. And that Bearcubs ain’t no amateur. As the title suggests, this track is HOT (too cheesy, but I couldn’t help it). You can’t help but be consumed by the textured arrangements throughout the EP and it is quite evident from the beginning of this banger. His distribution of instruments and produced sounds accumulate and become completely immersive.
Underwaterfall is next up and clearly a standout track from the EP, showing producer’s own aesthetic. This song was the first single to be released off the EP and for good reason. This epic track does everything you want it to do, it builds at the optimum moment and unveils his true music aptitude. True craftsmanship in this one as it intertwines in his distinctive and unique blend.
False Mirrors captures and again emphasises the chaotic balance that Ritchie has got right. He masters some mammoth atmospheric moments throughout the song and his subdued layered vocals are proportioned faultlessly.
We end on a high with SL001 and what a way to depart. It differs from the other tracks and expresses a different aesthetic. The French vocals contribute to this, setting a refreshing sound and a more playful nature, and it is truly effective. The repetitive vocal bounces off the alluring synths and has been another repeat of mine.
And you should have it on repeat too.
Underwaterfall EP is available now on All Points label.
