The Icelandic answer to Bon Iver, Ásgeir unveils capturing new single Stardust of his forthcoming record, Afterglow.

The hint of R&B rhythm imbedded in Stardust’s foundation gives the tune a dimension, offering a depth melodically to align with Ásgeir’s intense songwriting. The lyrical work on Stardust is what makes the tune excelled. Though the dreamy balance between the organic singer-songwriter tradition combined with the modern electronic impulses is compelling, it is the immense depth through Ásgeir’s words that makes the track something more.

Ásgeir explains the tune:

‘Stardust; is a song that I wrote fairly early on in the whole new album process – it was around summer 2015. I wanted to write a pop song that experiments with various sounds and production and that wouldn’t be too ‘serious’. The outcome is, to me, a very honest song that comes from a part of me that I usually don’t pay much attention to.

Following up his dazzling debut, In the Silence, Ásgeir’s anticipated sophomore, Afterglow, is due to be released May 5th, through One Little Indian.
