ALT-J Unveil New Track ‘In Cold Blood’
Alternative dreamers, Alt-J follow up their mysterious cut 3WW with the second single of their forthcoming album Relaxer.
Earlier this month Alt-J announced the release of their third studio album Relaxer, and their most recent tune of the record, In Cold Blood, is an absolute marvel.
With powerful guitar work, capturing and enigmatic percussion and that tantric edge Alt-J possess, In Cold Blood is an intensely coherent and bold track. The bombastic moments of heavy instrumentation are counterpointed with the Spartan verses, proving both the simple and the extravagant aspect of Alt-J’s repertoire. The Truman Capote reference in the title also draws its allusions to the thematic of the tune – yet it is Joe Newman’s distinct vocals that brings the final touch to the experimental concoction.
Alt-J stated on Facebook that:
It’s a song we began writing in our Leeds days and finished last year in London. The brass was recorded at Abbey Road; the keyboards were done on a Casiotone that cost £1.05 on eBay; and no-one is quite sure where the key change came from. We hope you enjoy it.
Relaxer will be released a week earlier than anticipated and the new release date is June 2nd via Infectious Music.
