Live: FLOR // Electrowerkz, London
LA-based alt-pop outfit flor perform to a sold out crowd at Electrowerkz in London.
Filled with sun-soaked tunes and a breezy feel, flor‘s set served as a perfect midweek treat for the audience gathered at London’s Electrowerkz last week.
Bringing Cali sunshine to gloomy London, the band’s vibrant performance was a celebration of their debut album, come out, you’re hiding, which was released last year. From sparkling rhythmics of the opener guarded, through luminous vocals in warm blood, to the synth-infused expansive soundscape of heart, we found ourselves in flor’s kaleidoscopic sonic world.
Taking it down a notch with ocean and unsaid, the band charmed with exquisite guitar work and groovy bass lines making the crowd sway in awe. Following with old-school Let Me In and Get Behind This, the warm glow of their early material filled up the room as the zealous crowd joined in for a singalong.
With absolute hits overbehind and hold on rounding off their show, the blissful melodies were a graceful way to wave us goodbye.
It was a truly joyous set, a testament to flor’s sharp songwriting skills and their flair for creating indie anthems. Fusing a rock attitude with pop sensibilities and emotional lyricism, you get quite a mix that is sure to excite and surprise you when you least expect it. And that’s exactly what flor are about. Hopefully, we won’t have to wait long to see them again.
