SWMRS Announce New Album ‘Berkeley’s On Fire’
The first taste of their sophomore album comes in the form of single and video April In Houston.
After a lot of buzz, Californian rock quartet SWMRS have finally announced details of their sophomore album Berkeley’s On Fire, slated for release on February 15th, 2019 via Fueled By Ramen. Collaborating with producer Rich Costey, it will see the band push at the edges of the rock genre and combine a plethora of influences to create a sonically diverse record.
Speaking on the album’s lyrical content, Cole Becker says:
When we were writing these songs we were very conscious of our role in creating a space for people to escape from the nonstop negative media cycle. It’s a strange time to be young; our generation knows the duality of feeling like an unstoppable force for change in one moment and a powerless wreck in the next. We wanted these songs to document that feeling that we’ve observed closely in ourselves and in the people we’ve shared our music with over the past three years.
A first listen to the album comes in the form of new single April In Houston. Fusing a nostalgic guitar line with electronic beats, it’s a mish-mash of different musical aspects and somehow it all works to create this jangly tune that you can’t resist. The video sees Cole dancing around with a chair, and it’s an eccentric clip that captures the lively tune perfectly.
