IIOLA Shares New Track ‘Chewing Gum’
The latest track from iiola shares the following characteristics with the title Chewing Gum; they’re both sweet, and are extremely easy to get stuck in your head.
Songstress iiola, real name Shannon Saunders, shares an honest cut in the guise of newest track Chewing Gum. Working on her debut album, Chewing Gum gives a further hint of the glimmering pop perfection we can expect in the future.
Baring her thought for the world to see, it’s a journey of honesty carried forth by swelling synths and emotive strings. A brimming sense of urgency underlies her powerful vocals, as she questions the impacts of social media and especially the carefully selected window of our life that we show through it. Asking the million dollar question ‘who can we trust?’, there’s a myriad of emotions that lie behind the track, and you’ll be sure to resonate with at least one of them.
iiola explains:
My phone would sometimes feel like a loaded gun, fuelled with way too many bullets of emotion. Social media is a double-edged sword. I recognised that I needed to change my perspective on it and start actually living my real life. Once I did this I wasn’t ruled by it anymore and I could dip in and out of it and use it more recreationally instead of it being my bible.
You can catch her live on April 8th at the Thekla, Bristol, supporting Nina Nesbitt.
