Live: LOCAL NATIVES // Oslo, Hackney
Californian indie rock quintet Local Natives played an intimate sold-out show at London’s Oslo, giving us the first taste of their new album.
Local Natives‘ fourth album Violet Street comes a decade after the release of their debut, Gorilla Manor, but has somehow managed to retain their signature sound, from the exquisite harmonies to the flawless percussion, and everything in between.
Opening with classic Sun Hands before moving on to the shiny new Café Amarillo, the band took us on a journey through time with songs from every album, with set closer Wide Eyes bringing us full circle. The familiar melodies of You & I, Fountains of Youth, and Who Knows, Who Cares interlaced perfectly with the fresher tracks When Am I Gonna Lose You and Megaton Mile. Each one, regardless of era, was met with the same level of enthusiasm from the fortunate few who gained entry to the exclusive show.
As for those who missed out (and boy, did they miss out), Local Natives will return to the UK in October for a brief, unmissable tour.
