With over 35 million streams collectively, G Flip aka Georgia Flipo has become one of the most exciting Australia’s exports in the recent months. Releasing her debut single About You just over a year ago, she’s been winning hearts all over the world with her candid and refreshing take on pop music. Playing sold-out headline dates across Australia, it was time she now hit the Northern Hemisphere.

Gathered at The Garage in Highbury on Wednesday night, the crowd was buzzing in anticipation of seeing G Flip on stage. Known for her fantastic percussion skills, she opened with a sleek drum solo that had everyone going crazy from the very start. Being joined by her full live band, they dived into Killing My Time, charming the audience with tantalising synth beats and warm vocals.

With a knack for writing upbeat pop anthems, G Flip brings a fresh spark to the scene, creating an aura of originality and allure. Synth-laden hooks easily blend with sparkling guitars and palpable drums, whilst her vocal harmonies are simply exquisite. Wearing her heart on her sleeve, the lyrics carry an emotional charge, setting the inspiring tone that listeners can relate to.

Raw and honest, her latest single I Am Not Afraid struck with an uplifting chorus, easily stirring the emotions of the audience. Overwhelmed by the reaction of the crowd, G Flip shed a few tears, saying: “This is a dream come true”.

Serving us a balanced mix of her set choices, we were treated to some brand new songs and G Flip’s most recent material. “I just can’t get over how fucking amazing your are. It’s fucking wild. This one is for you”, she said, sitting down behind the piano. Ballad Bring Me Home made for a truly special moment of the whole set, exposing a tender and vulnerable side to the artist.

Entertaining the crowd and keeping things interesting, G Flip also shared a few personal stories during the evening; going to a Spice Girls concert at the age of 10 being one of them. Heading towards the end of the show, Drink Too Much brought along vibrant danceable vibes, whilst About You was just a cherry on top.

Oozing strong charisma and unmissable wit, G Flip makes you feel like she’s your best friend and you can always count on her. Translating that authenticity and sincerity into her songs, her music travels far, and judging by her broad potential and many talents, she is about to travel even further.
