Live: KING PRINCESS // Palace Theatre, St. Paul, MN
Her royal highness King Princess graced the Palace Theatre stage this last Tuesday.
Performing songs from her stellar 2019 debut album Cheap Queen, King Princess delivered a high-energy and passionate performance.
After an amazing opening set from Kilo Kish and a quick drag queen performance, King Princess took to the stage to roaring cheers. She began with Isabel’s Moment, sitting behind a blue piano painted with clouds. Sneaking smiles in the crowd’s direction, King Princess seemed overjoyed to be on stage. Her unadulterated excitement and happiness was written clearly across her face.
KP continued in a flurry through a few more songs before pausing to properly greet the audience ahead of Pussy Is God, one of her more popular tunes. The upbeat and joyous tone continued throughout her set, reaching its peak during a stunning rendition of Talia.
Cheap Queen is one of the best pop albums to come out of 2019 and holds up amazingly well in a live setting. King Princess’ popularity stems from her honesty and candor. She takes the time to make her show a safe and welcoming space, interacting with front-row fans and joking with her band. Overall, this iteration of the Cheap Queen tour is not one to miss and anyone who has a chance should see King Princess perform.
