DGD combine piercing vocals, rapid and dreamy instrumental with a psychedelic video in their new song Prisoner, all will keep you hooked from the first drum beat.

Dance Gavin Dance have announced their much-anticipated ninth full-length studio album, Afterburner, due out on April 24th.

Confusing and fractured at first, Prisoner keeps you wondering what’s going on until the first chorus, when the mosaic of styles turns seamlessly into a haunting new sound. Tilian Pearson effortlessly floats through a wide vocal range, amplified at key moments by carefully placed echo effects to ultimately create a dreamlike and outlandish sound, while Jon Mess’s raspy voice pulls us back to the harsh reality. As a first taster of their new album, this fusion of antithetical styles surely peaks our interest and we can’t help but wonder what to expect next.

Speaking of the new track, guitarist Will Swan shares:

‘Prisoner’ is a captivating piece of the eclectic puzzle that is Afterburner. It showcases yet another leap in our constant evolution, and I can’t wait for people to hear what this album has in store.
