KAWALA Share Music Video for ‘Animals’
Hinting at the deeper themes and imagery underlying the track, the band unveils the thought-provoking visuals for Animals.
North London’s KAWALA show off their quirk and flair for the surreal within their newest video for their recently released single Animals.
Packing in symbolism and latent underlying themes, the video for Animals builds on the deeper meaning of the track in its exploration of the journey to break free from constraints and daily repetition. Following the perspective of a young man who’s faced with daily tirades of abuse from both his employer and passer-by’s, the gruelling day-to-day routine evidently grinds the protagonist down, before he makes a heroic and liberating escape. An affirming watch, the video is a fine example of the band expertly merging their love for heartfelt storytelling and eye for unconventional imagery, all whilst creating a hooking tune that is sure to make you ponder upon the thought-provoking lyricism.
The band explained:
We wrote ‘Animals’ as a simple reference to the empowerment of escaping a toxic relationship. We tried to balance floaty harmony-based verses that represent the feeling of naive comfort in a negative situation, with more punchy choruses that create more of a sense of breaking free on your own.
