THE BLACKMORDIA Morph Genres With New Single ‘XX’
XX makes a plush, genre-bending splash for France’s pop-rockers The Blackmordia.

With their latest single, XX, The Blackmordia have landed somewhere between 80s glam and modern alt-pop. Guitars, synths, a solid beat, and an edgy vocal performance unite to define the band’s contemporary nostalgic sound on this latest single. The moment of spoken word during the glitzy, synth-driven bridge adds yet another element to XX. Being an electrifying love song, The Blackmordia also make sure to touch on all the flavours of love from “I once said ‘love is a cunt’” to “I wanna know if your lips taste so crazy.”
Lead singer, Peter Moisan, said on the song:
It’s an open letter to Love. Love can make you the happiest person on earth but also the saddest. The song explores the different stages of love and the behaviours lovers display. Sensuality, temptation, culpability, remorse.
The band’s founder and drummer, $ofiane Seddiki, added:
‘XX’ is one of the songs we wrote first, it’s a perfect reflection of The Blackmordia’s sound and our influences, from 70s black music, 80s rock-pop, New Wave and Glam.”
