RIKAS Share New Single ‘Overthinking’
Bringing a woozy summer sound, you definitely won’t be Overthinking when listening to the new track from Rikas.
Ever since their early school days of taking music and singing lessons together, the four members of Rikas have connected with each other and to others by their shared love of music, and it’s exactly this passion that propels their latest release Overthinking and injects it with a hefty dose of infectious energy. With a glittering melody that conjures summery nostalgia, the swaying melody will gently wind around your head before comfortably settling into your conscience with its catchy tune. Despite being called Overthinking, the track will lull you into doing anything but that, and offers a warming presence for you to relax into.
Originally set to tour for the most of this year, the band found themselves back in the studio earlier than expected when the pandemic hit. They begin by saying:
It felt weird, but somehow it was good to have some time to reflect and think about what we did for the last couple years. Since we started the band in 2016, we played over 250 shows around Europe and released our debut album. So much was happening, that for some reason we forgot that we have been living our dream in the past years.
We were kind of stuck in a writer’s block. But somehow this song came in one day and we all fell in love immediately. We knew that this song will be our first song after our record Showtime.
Delving more into the track itself, the band shares:
‘Overthinking’ has a feel good vibe but we are actually talking about the feeling of being overwhelmed with life and everything what’s going on. You tend to compare yourself a lot and then you get the impression that your art or what you do is never enough.
All our shows have been cancelled but we have been busier than ever lately. And we even filmed and directed the music video for ‘Overthinking’ with our roommates. I would say it’s an homage to Wes Anderson and the Baroque architecture in Stuttgart where we are living. I hope everybody takes a look cause it was super fun to make our own video.
