TOMMY LEFROY Share Lush New Single ‘Knievel’
The duo continues on their charm offence with their delectable new release, Knievel.

Based in London and Los Angeles, not even an ocean can disrupt the creative workflow of Tessa Mouzourakis and Wynter Bethel, as the pair make music together under the moniker of Tommy Lefroy. It’s a collaboration that gives effect to expansive sounds and soft textures, guided by their individual attachment to the places they have been and the people they have met, and draws you into their intimate spheres through the honesty they share.
Their latest single, Knievel, is a stirring cut that will prompt you to confront your own insecurities as it sees the pair reflecting on their own experiences of imposter syndrome. Singing, ‘I’m not myself right now, it’s gonna take time’, it allows deep vulnerability to shine through in a comforting haven of cushioning guitars and gently rumbling percussion, and you’ll feel safe to leave your innermost thoughts and troubles with their music. The soft-spoken female vocals flitter between soft-spoken vulnerability and impassioned soaring, creating an emotional rise and fall that will keep you hooked onto the track until its very last notes.
Speaking more about the inspiration behind the track, the duo explains:
We wrote this song about when fear of failure becomes self sabotaging. It’s about imposter syndrome and our own inclinations towards recklessness when we feel like things are out of our hands. We grew up hearing folklore of the ‘70s, and loved the mythos of American stuntman Evel Knievel, who was revered for his bravery in the jump regardless of whether he stuck the landing.
