Canadian indie musician j ember takes you on a reflective journey with his latest single, Full Size Render, which combines dreamy instrumentals with musing lyrics for a respite from the conundrums of daily life. Collaborating with S. Carey, the two musicians bring the best of their craft and combine them into a delightful harmony of folk-inspired melodies and cavernous acoustics.
The track guides you into an evocative headspace, with the lulling instrumentals inviting a pondering mood before the lyrics take it further by exploring the nuances of the conflicts we get into. It’s a track that calmly recognises that there are multiple facets to every story, and humbly acknowledges that ‘we won’t see eye to eye’ – by accepting this in the tranquil manner that it does, it’s a track that helps us expand our perspectives and widen our empathy when we find ourselves worked up and feeling tense. The wondrous guitars and tinkering keys provide a soothing soundtrack that will leave you feeling content and set for the rest of your day.
Sharing more about the track, j ember explains:
It started on acoustic guitar, I was listening to a lot of Nick Drake and Joni Mitchell, playing around with different tunings. I eventually brought it to Duncan Hood and we recorded the guitar, drums, bass, and slide guitar onto tape with Braden Sauder from Marquee Sound, an old movie theatre reconverted into a recording studio. S. Carey provided backing vocals and Joe Visciano mixed. It’s about seeing all sides of every argument / situation, “the big picture.”
