GOD ALONE Share New Single ‘Heavy Metal’
Raucous and experimental, God Alone show us that music isn’t always about the dramatic.

Guitars chug on tirelessly in the newest track released by God Alone, Heavy Metal which is set to be released off their album Bent Shoulders on July 20th.
Despite what the title may suggest, the track does not bear close semblance to the genre of heavy metal, instead sways more towards post-punk, with traces of avant garde being sprinkled in the melody. Heavy Metal just keeps plundering onwards – there’s no dramatic climax or melodramatic fall, but rather there’s a relentless energy that pushes the track forward, maintaining a restless edge to it. This isn’t to say that there’s no emotion behind the song; on the contrary, there’s a despairing, breaking down in distraught in the bridge as the emotional intensity behind the vocals continue to grow. The repetition in the vocals further drive in on the battering quality of the track, and it continually erodes and hammers at you with brute force.
God Alone features The Devil Wears Prada vocalist Mike Hranica; and he explains:
‘Heavy Metal’ is a song that represents the sort of equilibrium of Bent Shoulders — which is grime and a lack of anything dramatic or spectacular. There is nothing huge, there are no cannonballs or ships. There is degradation. There is only my own routine, in the bridge, expressed in a distraught kind of way.
The distress expressed in the track is sure to resonate with listeners, and the harrowing single is sure to be stuck in your mind for a long time.
