LADY BIRD Unveil Video for New Single ‘Boot Fillers’
A sonically raucous track, Boot Fillers offers depth in its commentary on father figures.

Kent punk trio Lady Bird make some astute observations on broken homes and challenging relations with step fathers in their latest track Boot Fillers.
Listeners are a given a personal insight through the lyrics, as singer Sam Cox confesses the difficulties of being faced with a string of stepfathers that enter his family, telling us “The first one ran away with another man’s wife / The second, he wasn’t afraid to fight / The third, I had my differences with”. But there’s a positive ending, as Cox develops this into a positive spoken word mantra, telling us of change and adjustment.
Sonically, it’s a rowdy track that will be sure to have you stomping along, no matter your mood. Full of raucous ‘la la las’ and gritty guitar riffs, there’s a hypnotic aspect to the relentless sonic energy. Of course there’s a hint of typical punk rebelliousness, but this is contrasted with the poetic insight of the lyrics, and this unique mixture is one that will see Lady Bird soar to new heights.
Cox explains:
‘Boot Fillers’ is about the challenging relationships I have had with father figures throughout my life. Something valuable that I have come to appreciate is that It can be difficult for both parties involved.
You can go sing along to this track live as they’re set to support Slaves this Autumn.
