Philadelphia’s quintet Grayscale give us a further taste of their forthcoming new album, Nella Vita, with a life-affirming new track, In Violet.

Always pushing their boundaries and taking their sound to new heights without ever forgetting where they came from, Grayscale have gifted us with a brand new single, In Violet. Lifted off their new album, Nella Vita, due out on September 6th, the track follows the bittersweet first single from the album – Painkiller Weather.

With lyrics “I’m stuck here grieving all alone / I’m out of hope, guess that’s the way it goes when you burn dark and slow”, it may set a grim and melancholic tone for the track, but as the song progresses, a glimmer of hope starts piercing through. Bringing out the light and positivity even in the darkest of times, In Violet is sure to sweep you off your feet with its hook-laden blend of powerhouse vocals, gritty guitars and a delightful horn section. The song is accompanied by vibrant, purple-tinged visuals that gracefully expand on the lyrical theme of the track.

Vocalist Collin Walsh comments:

When I die, I want people to celebrate my life and enjoy each other’s togetherness, rather than mourn my death in a miserable way. I’ve dealt with a lot of loss and long episodes of grief the past couple years, and it made me realize how much it can wear on you. When I go, I want everyone to celebrate, sing, laugh, and dress in violet.

Nella Vita is set for release on September 6th via Fearless Records.

Collin further explains the concept of the album:

It’s really personal. The music provokes a lot of visuals, because it’s very conversational, real, and romantic. I suppose that’s just how I write. The songs capture the spectrum of emotions that you experience in life and real experiences like love, sex, being a teenager, addiction, pain, joy, grief, death, and everything. Life isn’t just one thing; neither is music. We’re a rock band, but we want people to dance, laugh, cry, and have fun.
