Are you ready then? Well, you better be because these guys are just getting started.

Billy Bibby & The Wry Smiles, new musical endeavour of former and founding member of Catfish and the Bottlemen – Billy Bibby, have certainly not been wasting any time. It hasn’t been long since they formed the band in the autumn last year. During that short period of time they have managed to not only release debut EP Bide Your Time (Feb 2016) but also play over 30 shows. Not bad for a first six months, right?

Now, back from the studio, fresh and definitely ready, the Welsh four-piece return with the latest single Are You Ready?.

Having blended the sharp and guitar driven hooks with evocative lyrical side Billy Bibby & The Wry Smiles deliver a classic rock track. Quintessential in its form and abundant in its content, this song is here to make you feel good, as Billy Bibby explains below. Its catchy chorus will undoubtedly leave you in a buoyant mood. Not to mention that guitar solo which clearly makes this single hard to go unnoticed. Here’s what the singer had to say about it.

Are You Ready?” was the last one to be practiced and finished as a band before our first tour together, but it seemed to stand out as a major contender for the next single – says Bibby. I think this song musically just makes you feel good. When I was writing I wanted to make every piece of it stand out so every word of it could be sung at a gig or wherever it may be. However, in terms of lyrics I can’t say that there’s any particular story behind it all. Some parts are experiences in the past but most of it represents how I was feeling at the time. It could be taken however you want, as the listener, and envision your own story when you hear it.

Billy Bibby & The Wry Smiles have  received radio play on BBC Wales, Radio X, Virgin Radio UK, Amazing Radio, and numerous indie stations in the UK and abroad. As for their energetic live performances, well you should ask their fast growing fan base perhaps.

The band have a few shows and festival appearances planned for this summer bur rumour has it, they will embark on a much bigger tour next year. Meantime, stream Are You Ready? below.
