“We`re the greatest. I mean it. We`ll never be defeated.”
What a refreshment to my playlist! Just when I needed it the most. Recently I’ve encountered this thought in my mind that most of my bands begin to sound the same. Quite scary thought, I know. I hope this is not happening. I may just be having some kind of crisis. Anyway, Jacob Anderson aka Raleigh Ritchie, is my savior for this week. I remember when he released the single Stronger Than Ever last year and just then I knew he’d be interesting to keep my eye on. And as usual, I was not mistaken. You’re welcome.
Raleigh Ritchie, who is best known for his role as Grey Worm in Game of Thrones (Yep, this guy!), is as occurred also a brilliant musician. Though he admits that acting was never what he meant to do. Well, I’m glad. Not that he’s a bad actor or something… No, no not at all. I’m just glad that he’s making music. Brilliant music. Presenting a mix of basically everything – pop, hip-hop, R&B, soul, indie and even alternative – will suit everyone. Almost everyone. But most likely, you. I hope. Lyrically outstanding! And let’s not forget his acting skills which add a lot of charm to his music videos. I’ve been digging his stuff these past few weeks so I’ve been getting a bit obsessed. Well, his definitely not my first.
But let’s talk about the new track Bloodsport ’15. Originally taken from the Black & Blue EP 2014, was enhanced by some string harmonies mainly because the author wasn’t entirely happy with it. Chatting with MTV Raleigh said
With ‘Bloodsport’ there was stuff that I wanted to do with that song. I wanted to get real orchestration and tweak a few things here and there. It was an opportunity to do it the way that I always wanted to.
As for the new material from his upcoming debut album he added It’s pretty much all unheard. I don’t want to just put out a greatest hits kind of thing. It’s pretty much all new and fresh.
All great and that but this British singer-songwriter/actor has postponed the release of his record a few times. Plus still no title! He worries too much if you ask me. Talking to The Guardian Ritchie mentioned I can be quite changeable. There have been times when I’ve thought, ‘This feels too immediate, too much about right now, or too much about two years ago.’ Raleigh dear, there’s no need. You’re doing just fine.
I want to do this because I want to be good. I don’t want to be a celebrity. I don’t want to be on posters. I want to be good.
Bloodsport’ is out on September 11 and I hope I’ll get my hands on the album very soon after that!
And I’m going to finish with my absolute winner!
