FRANK TURNER Plays an Acoustic Set at House of VANS in London
FRANK TURNER plays an acoustic set at House of VANS in London.
House of VANS London hosts collaborative events from BEN MORSE and award winning musician FRANK TURNER throughout this month.
Having launched in the Gallery space with a private view on July 6th, Get Better – 8 years on the road with Frank Turner & The Sleeping Souls is an exhibition of photography from close friend, director and photographer Ben Morse. It showcases a series of intimate photographs from Ben’s time on the road with Frank.
“Get Better” is designed to show my journey from the first days of picking up a camera to a professional career as a director & photographer – says Ben Morse. This is reflected in my work with Frank Turner & The Sleeping Souls in their path to becoming the arena filling world-touring band they are today. Across 120 photos you can see the progression in not only technical ability but also in the relationship with the subjects, which speaks to the unique bond we have developed.
The exhibition is free and will be open to the public until Sunday 31st July. See the pictures below to get the idea of what it is about.
An exclusive book signing with Frank and Ben took place in the following week (July 13th). Having been supported by Ben Marwood the musician himself delivered a beautiful performance later on that day.
Frank Turner played at least one song from all of his six studio albums. We got to hear Glorious You, The Way I Tend To Be, Love Forty Down, Substitute, The Next Storm, Photosynthesis, Wessex Boy and many, many more. That includes a new improvised song about white wine, a Nick’s song and even a song request from a guy who came all this way down from Manchester. By the time he was finishing off with the tracks Recovery and Get Better, I’m pretty sure every single soul in that room was singing back every word of every song.
Watching Frank Turner without his Sleeping Souls definitely is an unique and personal experience. At intimate shows such as this one you can really see the artist in all his glory.
Frank Turner & The Sleeping Souls will embark on the US tour next week. Then they will back to make an appearance at Reading and Leeds Festival on 26th-28th August. Meantime, make sure to visit the House of VANS to see the mentioned above exhibition.
