ISLAND New Song Review // “Waves”

ISLAND unveil new single Waves.

Waves is the first cut to be lifted from the band’s upcoming second EP, A Place You Like.

It’s a human instinct to seek similarities between our feelings and surrounding nature. Seasons change, so does our moods. Those sunny days may have been and gone but there’s still a little bit of summer romanticising left in the air as ISLAND deliver new vibrant track.

Beautifully arranged composition of soothing but restless in a way harmonies shape reality of inner struggle. On-point and confident guitars gracefully accompany those sunny rays hidden within the notes as Rollo Doherty’s distinct vocals emphasise the lyrics: “Be my sun today” and it certainly brings some bright optimism as we head towards the colder end of the year.

The band says of the track:

We all experience times when we feel like the light has disappeared from our lives, “Waves” is about finding that someone to take you back out of the darkness.

The London four-piece has been gradually and successfully winning hearts since their debut single Stargazer (1.6 million streams on Spotify), followed by 2015’s Girl EP. Now with a few recently released tracks and a fast growing fan base ISLAND are ready to play a headline show on November 2nd at Scala in London.
