Slaughter Beach, Dog have a new single for you and don’t let the artist’s name fool you, it’s an indie folk gem of a tune.

Coming from their new album Birdie out on October 27th, Slaughter Beach, Dog is the side project from Jake Ewald of Modern Baseball. Showing a creative point of difference from the band’s aesthetic that is on current hiatus, his style with this collective sounds fresh yet familiar at the same time.

Acolyte is a lovable track, full of charm and character. It doesn’t linger as it brings forth alluring and confident guitars. Elements of country make brief appearances that are welcomed as well, whilst whistling moments will have you enchanted. However, the last minute of the song is the champion part here.

When I gave myself the specific goal to write these kinds of songs and figure out how to do it, it just broke me open in a way I really needed.
