The Melbourne four-piece City Calm Down share new track, In This Modern Land, taken from their forthcoming second album.

City Calm Down have taken some time away to develop lyrically and musically, and now have released some fresh new music.

In This Modern Land explores the idea of social isolation, saturated time on social media that most people have surely experienced. With dominate and precise guitars, the song is balanced by singer Jack Bourke’s broody vocals. Big chorus is the shining moment that brings the track together and creates an anthem like quality. 

Vocalist Bourke says:

In producing this album, we wanted to introduce new musical ideas whilst retaining the many production qualities and melancholic tension present on In A Restless House. It was difficult getting the balance right between stepping too far to the left and repeating ourselves. We certainly learnt a lot as a group.

The guys head over to the UK in a couple of weeks then hit up Laneway Festival in February and will surely be bringing some more new tunes to us before then.
