ALASKALASKA Share Video for ‘Monster’
The woozy latest single from ALASKALASKA will serenade you with its sultry beats and hypnotise you with its meditative quality.
London-based ALASKALASKA set to entrance and hypnotise you with their latest release Monster.
The single sees the band stripping back to a partly-acoustic arrangement, creating a relaxed atmosphere away from their previous releases. A gentle swaying melody carries a sweet hint of melancholy, as the sound of an acoustic guitar wistfully breezes through in the beginning. Lilting vocals join in, and there’s a delightfully dulcet quality to the vocals of Lucinda John-Duarte that bring in feelings of innocence and purity. Subtle hums underlying the main texture help create an expansive soundsphere, and synths shine in like shimmering rays of sunlight.
The band teamed up with young photographer and filmmaker Ashley Rommelrath to create DIY visuals to accompany the new single. The video has a vintage feel to it, and the band’s charisma undeniably shines through in the way the video has been strewn together. There’s a very personal feel to it, as Lucinda stares right at the camera, as if she’s serenading you with this track. With Monster, ALASKALASKA have continued their off-kilter brand of pop, and it’s absolutely charming.
