The latest video from All Time Low is pretty sweet, quite literally.

There’s a panda, birthday cake, gorgeous pastel visuals – what else do you need? But wait, there’s a twist; all the members are bound up. With party hats on, the band struggle against their restraints in an attempt to get to the cake placed just out of reach. It’s a fun video for a fun song, and you can’t help but smile at the slightly bizarre situation of the video.

The opening electronic notes of Birthday will lure you in with its undeniable summer feel. Catchy vocals build up to the chorus, and as the instruments take over, it creates a massive sound that has hints of the band’s older material whilst maintaining the refreshing new sonic direction.

There’s no shortage of the band’s crafty lyricism either; this is especially evident in the addictive chorus, where the line “I need you like cake on my birthday” strikes an effective metaphor, capturing the desire lacing the track. And now every time you listen to the song, you’ll be reminded of the exploding cake in the video.
