NORMANDIE Release Video for ‘White Flag’

Normandie tease more material from their upcoming sophomore album White Flag

After the release of Ecstasy earlier this summer, Normandie give us a further tease of what to expect from their upcoming album White Flag, due to be released on October 26th via Easy Life Records.

Telling of a relationship gone sour, the emotion is laid on thick through velvety vocals and aching melody lines. Opening with “This is hell”, you can hear the tortured thoughts in the frantic thrumming of the guitar and bass, which back a melancholic vocal line that delicately eases between high and low vocal registers. Building towards an explosive chorus, you can’t help but get shivers down your spine as silky octave harmonies sing “I am better without you”. Stratospheric falsetto dominates the massive chorus, which bursts with pummelling percussion and impassioned guitars. The bridge teems with tension, as the texture is gradually thickened whilst a rhythmic drum pounds away metronomically, before culminating in a whirlwind of fiery guitar solos and crashing cymbals, with a barely-masked despair underlying. Displaying a groundbreaking rock sound that can easily fill arenas, White Flag is a further indication of the sparkling future destined for Normandie.

The video follows the journey of a man carrying a white flag, through a stunning backdrop of a dark forest. Using stromotion effects, the video was directed and edited by the band’s bassist Lucas Englund. With a dark aesthetic, the video manages to capture the haunting feeling of the track.
