SLEEP ON IT Return with New Single ‘Disconnected’

Back with brand new material, Sleep On It return Disconnected.

Sleep On It 2018

Chicago-based quintet Sleep On It return with new single Disconnected, which marks their first new material since their 2017’s debut album, Overexposed, and it continues in the same catchy vein that defined their previous work.

Honesty shines through the track, as it explores the notion of feeling burdened and isolated as vocalist Zech Pluister sings “I’ve had enough of the weight / That’s been dragging me down and clouding up my brain”. Beginning with a distant chorus, faded vocals and guitars create the feeling of disconnection mentioned in the first line “I feel so disconnected / From everybody but myself”. As Zech declares “I’ve had enough”, you’re pulled back into a flurry of syncopated bass, uplifting percussion and light guitars. A bass-dominated bridge builds up to the catchy chorus as different textures join in gradually, and you can’t help but sing along to “Take what you want from me”.

The band says of the single:

The song is very much about wanting to be enough for somebody, especially a girlfriend or boyfriend, but being constantly distracted and self-involved with other things.
