BLOXX Return with New Single ‘Headspace’
Who knew heartbreak could sound this uplifting?
Indie quartet Bloxx return with their newest single Headspace. Lifted from their debut EP of the same name, it’s an uplifting cut that shows a poppier face of the band’s sound and we’re all here for it. There’s no doubt that this is a track that will go down well in the live circuit, with its buoyant energy and rousing instrumentation.
A bright, airy guitar opens the track, before quickly being joined by the other instruments and catchy claps. Honest vocals tell a story of heartbreak and the confused mindset that occupies us after a breakup, as the question “I don’t know why you’re still on my mind” is posed. Building up to the chorus, it grows into a lively melody that is perfect for summer festivals and any time you feel like some refreshing pop. Not one to hold back on emotions, there’s a clear fire and passion driving the track forward, as vocalist Ophelia confesses “You’re fucking with my headspace”. A hint of wistful nostalgia creeps in the atmospheric bridge, which shows a more vulnerable side as the instruments drop away to leave only exposed vocals and a minimalistic electronic backing. But all is well and good, as we quickly swing back into the infectious chorus for a final party.
