In Short // HOT MILK

With less than a month to go until the gates open at Reading and Leeds 2019, Hot Milk tell us all about their weirdest festival experiences, dream festival line-ups, and meeting Pharrell.

Hot Milk 2019

Following the release of their debut EP, Are You Feeling Alive?, earlier this year, and performances at major UK festivals, such as Slam Dunk, Download, and Truck Festival, Manchester emo power-pop outfit Hot Milk are now gearing up to take to the stage at Reading and Leeds Festivals later this month. Being one of the hottest new names on the UK pop punk and emo/alternative scene, we caught up with Jim and Han to talk about their memories from Reading & Leeds and some festival tips for this year’s festival-goers.

How would you describe Reading and Leeds Festival in one word?

Juicy.

What’s your weirdest festival experience?

Last year at Reading Han met Pharrell a few pints in and kept offering him Jaffa Cakes like a weirdo coz she had no idea what to say.

Do you have any special memories from Reading and Leeds?

Our first ever festival was Leeds after our GCSE’s, it’s a rite of passage! That was the weekend that cemented in our brains that we wanted to play music for living so for us that was the most special time at that festival, this year will be equally special as we get to realise out 16 year old dream!

What are your top 5 festival essentials?

Baby wipes for an attempted shower, Strongbow dark fruit, m8sssss, novelty hat, cereal bars.

Out of this year’s headliners, which one would you take with you to a desert island?

I mean there’s not much food on a desert island so which one looks tastiest? I reckon Twenty One Pilots stay healthy so I think they’d probably taste the nicest…

What’s your dream festival line-up?

Queen
Nirvana
Green Day

When was the last time you messed up on stage?

Like last weekend I (Jim) was pretty sleepy still and messed up the lead to AYFA and everyone started pissing themselves.

What are your camping tips?

Just don’t bother go sleep in the car lads and lasses.

Reading and Leeds Festival will take place at the famous Richfield Avenue and Bramham Park sites this August bank holiday weekend (23rd – 25th August). Make sure to catch Hot Milk on The Pit / The Lock Up Stage on Friday at Leeds and Sunday at Reading.
