GIANT ROOKS Release New Single ‘Watershed’
Following their successful Wild Stare EP, German art-pop quartet Giant Rooks have returned with a full-bodied, effortlessly cool single, Watershed.
Watershed draws on the band’s experience living and loving in the big city – the fun and excitement, but also the challenges that come with. The video exemplifies these feelings in the lo-fi camcorder content accompanying the track. It is an optimistic view of millennial culture, which is a nice shift away from the standard woe-is-me-life-is-hard message often professed by other bands. Watershed is an evolved version of Giant Rooks’ sound from the previous EP. It perfectly blends their guitar and drums indie sound with disco-like house beats. The repeated chorus towards the end builds exceptionally well, taking us from soft egg shaker and quiet vocals to the full band at level-10 excitement.
More new music is expected in 2020 from Giant Rooks. If it’s anything like Watershed, it will be worth checking out. Catch the band live at the following dates:
05 – Brighton, Chalk
06 – London, Village Underground
07 – Manchester, Academy 2
