JOHAN LENOX Unveils New Single ‘i need a vacation’ feat. Rence
johan lenox and Rence explore toxic relationship situations with their fascinating new single, i need a vacation.
Having collaborated with Kanye West, Big Sean, Travis Scott, Travis Barker and many more, johan lenox is on a steady bump-free remarkable career path. Following the release of his cancel the party EP earlier this year, he continues to expand his growth by collaborating with fellow fast riser Rence on infectious new single, i need a vacation.
The relatable single showcases both parties’ bright lights combined as they connect through their heavenly calming vocals that take a break when the anthemic electro chorus drops in a rather fascinating style. Accompanied by a minimalistic stunning music video, it features both artists in a house party set, aimlessly circling around a red door and surrounded by red plastic cups. Unsurprisingly, the party goers find themselves hooked on their smart phones – is it because they don’t want to participate in the party celebrations or because they are desperately waiting for a phone call and a text?
Speaking on the collaboration, johan explains:
A year ago I was at Six Flags, riding roller coasters alone as I often do, and I discovered Rence’s music on Spotify. I was a huge fan of his writing and production so at the suggestion of our mutual friend, producer Frans Mernick, we all got together to write this song. We bonded over our mutual distaste for toxic relationship situations where someone talks about the other behind their back yet keeps wanting to hang out. We combined Frans’s drum production with Rence’s sampling ideas and structural sensibilities and my orchestral sounds. We built on each other’s vocal melodies and lyrics, changing and evolving the song numerous times until it became what it is now.
