WAXFLOWER Unveil Emotive New Cut ‘Sixteen Floors’
Pop-punk continues to thrive into this new decade, and Waxflower prove that the genre is in safe hands with their newest single Sixteen Floors.
Brisbane quartet Waxflower prove that pop-punk is well and truly alive and kicking in 2020 with their ferocious new single Sixteen Floors. They bring in all of the best aspects of the genre, from unashamedly honest vocals to heartfelt instrumentals, all with a magnanimous emotional surge that cannot be held back. Dexterous guitar work interweaves between grounding bass lines, and as the instruments drop out for an exposed bridge consisting of vocals and guitars only, you’ll feel the full weight of the feelings sinking in, before battering drums lead a rallying charge towards a triumphant final chorus. The band will be donating all streaming revenue from this month to Victorian Aboriginal Legal Service and Black Lives Matter, with donations also being matched by their label, Rude Records.
Explaining more of the track, vocalist Tristan Higginson shares:
‘Sixteen Floors’ was written at the end of a relationship, and along with my anxiety and panic disorder I was facing a new kind of sadness, with the backbone of my emotional support system gone. The song served as a vessel for all the negative thoughts and emotions that I wanted to externalise, but couldn’t. I remember that writing session being very fast, and very cathartic.
